Fun-Looking Footage from the Croods Game

Commenter Michael Martinez sent me this trailer for the upcoming Croods video game, The Croods: Prehistoric Party. It looks like a lot of fun! Incredibly colorful and shamelessly silly, it looks like the kind of game you could sit an entire family down in front of and they'd all have a good time. Extra points to the game makers for using Joe Moshier and Margaret Wuller's stripped-down character designs on the menus and scoreboards. Honestly, I think I prefer these designs to the 'official' ones, and I can't wait to see how they will be used in the future.

Okay, This Is Weird

Late last week, Nintendo released a few new images from their upcoming Croods video game, The Croods: Prehistoric Party!. I'm by no means a serious gamer, so I asked my two Nintendo-obsessed nephews their opinion. They both said they liked the looks of it. One of 'em said that he was glad that it wasn't going to be a simple play-through of the movie, but instead, a series of small games and puzzles. According to him, whenever video games try to retell a film, the result is repetitious fight scenes and uninspired gameplay.

Hearing this, I thought, 'Cool. Then that's what I'll post.' But then I looked a little closer at this next image.

You know that old expression, “Go suck an egg”? Well, that is EXACTLY what the Croods are doing in this mini-game!

Reprinted below were my reactions, in chronological order:

Wait, what?

Who would wanna…

It's actually kinda genius…

It's like a drinking game, only you risk getting salmonella poisoning instead of blood-alcohol poisoning…

Still, who would wanna…

Me! I would wanna...

We Interrupt This Blogging Vacation To Bring You The Following Video Game Screen-Caps

DreamWorks and D3Publisher have released the first three screen-caps from their upcoming Croods video game, The Croods: Prehistoric Party! The game, first announced back in February, is being described as "a hilarious adventure through 30 unique and addictive party-style mini-games," and a chance to "explore spectacular landscapes in an incredible new world filled with never-before-seen creatures."

Next to drinking Coke Zero and sniffing long lines of lime-flavored Pixy Stix, there's nothing I find more addictive than "party-style mini-games." And when those "party-style mini-games" involve smashing seashells with antlers and jumping hurdles made of mutated mice tails, my friends and family would do well to start organizing the intervention a.s.a.p.
