Well, What Did You Think?

As soon as you've seen The Croods, please let me know what you thought of it via the comments section of this post. What did you love? What didn't you love? Who were your favorite characters? Which combo-critter is now your dream-pet? Did you laugh out loud? Did you shed any tears? Say something. SAY ANYTHING. I just want to know what you thought!

Warning: Thar be spoilers ahead!

  1. My school district picked the perfect day to have a staff development day! I just got back from seeing the film, (went to the noon showing) however, I did not see it in 3D. My audience wasn't super packed, but I'd say about 6 other families/parties saw it with me. (but one party must have been a daycare or something because right before the trailers started, 12 or so kids filed in at once.)
The trailers shown were Epic, Despicable Me 2, Monsters University, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Turbo, and The Smurfs 2. (I was hoping for a Cloudy/Meatballs 2 trailer to play, but, to my dismay, it didn't. However, they showed a bit of Cloudy 2 in the Regal FirstLook thing, so I'm good.)
AS FOR THE FILM ITSELF, here's some random thoughts:
    -Chunky is ADORABLE
-The color and animation was epic
-Guy really grew on me. I want him as a friend.
-Shine Your Way is (another) awesome song from Owl City. I didn't listen to it prior to seeing the film for the sake of surprise, and when it came on during the credits, I was singing along to it even before it was over.
-I was the only person in my theater who stayed for all of the end credits. And I'm glad I did. (read: there is something after the credits.)

and that's pretty much it. Sorry, I'm not good at formal reviews...

    1. What are you talking about?! That was a GREAT review! And what better way to spend a day off school than at the movies! Thanks again for this morning's drawing. It really was a cool coincidence to have you in the first Fan Art Friday, and then again in the Fan Art Friday on the day of The Croods' release. (Not to mention the flavicon!) Thanks for being such a big part of this blog!

  2. No words can describe how I feel right now. So happy to finally have seen the movie I've been looking forward to for so long. It was well worth the wait. Now I just need the Art of The Croods and some awesome toys! I need toys!!! So many amazing freaking cool creatures my mind has been blown!!

    1. Trust me, I know just how you feel! And you will LOVE the book -- there's so much great stuff in there! As for the toys, from the photos I've seen, some of the Happy Meal sculpts aren't all that bad. What I really want, though -- what EVERYONE who sees the film will want -- is a nice, big Chunky the Death Cat!

  3. I just saw this today and was really blown away by The Croods. I saw it with my ex-wife and two adorable 4 & 5 year old kids. The change that Grug goes through sort of mirrored what I think the change I have had to go through over the past 4 years. When he is alone and paints his family on the rock wall, I pictured myself in the one bedroom apartment I rented after separating from my family, setting up pictures of my kids on the shelves. There were other very close parallels to my own personal story (like when Eep tells her dad she loves him and my 4-year old daughter looks at me while sitting on her mom's lap..), and maybe this is the trademark of good art, but I will stop here and just say this - This was a very entertaining, and very moving story beautiful told throught he brilliant animation and performances of the artists!

    1. If I was Chris Sanders or Kirk De Micco, this is EXACTLY the sort of response to The Croods that I would have hoping for. So personal...so heartfelt...so touching...

Thank-you so much for writing it!
